ok quick one. just want to describe NINE CASTLE, which is the name we gave our newly built 3-storey house that we are renting. NINE coz there are NINE of us, we will be studying in NINEwells hosp, and the house number is twentyNINE. CASTLE coz well, it is as huge as a CASTLE to us. (dad sis and bro, if you are reading this, it is the same as in the email, so go read the next entry)
it has a garage fitting 2 cars, a small garden, a huge porch, a back yard....we have 2 spots where we can have BBQs and build snowmans in winter! it's 3 storeys, 7 rooms but the owner's converting the dining room into a bedroom so we have 8 rooms. 2 of the girls are sharing. there's a huge living room and i can tell ya, once my mom sees the kitchen, she'll want to settle here!! the kitchen has a huge modern fridge which dispenses ice and water (not that we need any ice actually), oven, grill, wine storage ladders, glass fruit trays...and the kitchen is huge enough to fit a dining table that's y we converted the dinig room. and get this, it has a dishwasher!! it's only 5 min walk away fr the hosp, it's fullly furnished, up until vacuum cleaner and brushes and forks and spoons. now how good can that get?! oh yea....and i'm paying £205 / mth for the medium room which is really reasonable. there's this huge attic where you have a window at the roof so u can star gaze at night but tat cost 220. Lena's taking that so most prob i will go chill in her room if i want to star gaze. heh. ok wat else can i rave about....oh yea, the owner's gonna have built in WIFI, 30" screen TV, phone lines, 2 fridges (for 9 of us), 2 of all the electrical apliances like toaster. oh and my room has a built in huge cupboard and the sliding doors to the cupboard are all mirrors. oh and the house has double glazed windows and central heating (all the most up-to-date and cost efficient heating requirements of a house). the single glazed ones will just freeze the house in winter but double ones are like those you see in airplanes where you have an insulated layer in between 2 layers of glass. and the house is brand new in a brand new residential area. yesterday we were eating lunch and chilling out outside the house while waiting for the owner, and we saw wild rabbits in front of the hedge that surrounds our house. now how cool is that!! and the landlord is one in a million! he's this pretty huge ang-moh who owns a lot of properties and is well reputed among students to be a very very good and helpful landlord (we went to our uni student advisory service to check about him). and he said if anything breaks down, he'll repair it FOC. and he said: 9 of you! if you have any disputes and arguments, you can call me anytime to come and help you sort it out (in his scottish accent). he said we can call him 24-7 anytime. ok will try to post pics of the house on my blog.
the clothes here are cheap!!!!! i shoul dhave packed less clothes! i bought 2 shirts yesterday, one for £2 and one for £3, and they're both really fashionable and good quality ones. where can you find a RM14 shirt in M'sia?!!? then i bought a really warm jacket for £8. and get this, 3 pair of earrings for £1, which is RM 7!!! haha nearly went berserk. but will limit my spendings and do only what is necessary :)
the CF seniors came to visit us again last night, really really nice of them! will most prob go to this church which sings Hillsongs and is charismatic (so yeap, not all Scottish churchs sing hymns).
weather is weird! went jogging with woeilin and shengyeeng this morn and the sun was blazing! felt as if i was back in malaysia. but at times, the wind is so cold i can't feel my face. right, going off now. go find some nice grass patch and sit now and have my packed ham sandwich+peach.
