"To all foreigners, welcome to Malaysia. To all Malaysians, WELCOME HOME."
We were so close to cheering out loud when the MAS pilot announced that upon touching down. And I swear I've never loved Malaysia so much. Despite all its inequities, home is still home. One whole year of having to eat packed sandwiches for lunch does funny things to you. We ended up singing Malay pantun songs like: AIDS~~~Berbahaya~~~ while going to the baggage claim area.
The day before we left, it was a mad rush of buying souveniers (hands-down to SawSian for being the queen of this), settling bills, packing, selecting our SSCs for 5th yr...And throughout the day, there was always some one in the house screaming out of no where "We're going home!!!" or like WoeiLin, being amazingly out of tune, still chose to use his croaky voice to sing some weird Malay pantun song that no one has ever heard.
Had been a great 365 days (Yeap, we left Malaysia this exact same date last yr). Really couldn't have wanted more. From the 10 clueless dumb dumb IMU-ians, we've survived after all and arrived home safely.
"Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare. "
Psalm 40:5
From the great house that God provided us, to the amazing friendship forged among the 9 castle-lites (and not forgetting the slightly sesat-ed Larry Loo), the bible study nights turned gossiping nights with Lena, Est and Elaine, the joy when we finally handed in our 5000 word 4th yr assignment, the great church worship services at the Gate, the spiritual support of DCCF, the frustrating group study nights when you were often left more in fear than confidence coz you suddenly realise tt you know nuts about what you need to know, the times when we got told off by consultants, the countless moments when we challenged God whether Medicine was really the path for us...all the sweat, joy, tears, laughter, breakdowns, sleepless nights, they seem so distant all the sudden. But it was all worth it. 4th yr finals was...well, the mere fact that this is one exam that made me lose the most weight speaks for itself. But all is in His hand, no matter what the outcome is. (*gulp* if you don't see me blogging 2 weeks from now when the results are out, then don't ask)
Home is good. And that moment when I discovered that I can still fit snugly into my old jeans (with enough space for Sheng Yeeng to squeeze in......ok, maybe not) was priceless! Muahaha...so the 3Fs: Fat, Fair, Flabby, don't really suit me after all!
Will be going up to KL in 2 days time. Woohoo HOO~~~can't wait. Will be spending a week and half with Paul Chen & co. and the orang asli tribes. And then it's off to a beach holiday somewhere!!
